KACL Fall 2024 Registration and Membership Information
If you wish to participate via Zoom this term, please call (423) 354-5200.
Kingsport Alliance for Continued Learning (KACL), in partnership with East Tennessee State University at Kingsport, was established in 1993 to provide adults, regardless of educational background or age, opportunities to attend stimulating courses, lectures and special events. A volunteer board of directors manages KACL and board members often serve as instructors. KACL greatly benefits from its ready access to ETSU and other regional faculty as they share their expertise in community outreach, as well as from talented local instructors with interesting topics.

Most classes are held on the campus of ETSU at Kingsport Downtown located in the Kingsport Center for Higher Education (KCHE), 300 West Market Street, near the Justice Center. The exceptions are occasional field trips.
Classes are informal with no homework, grades or tests. They offer the opportunity to indulge your intellectual curiosity, engage in discussion, and enjoy a congenial and cooperative setting among friends and neighbors. In-person and virtual class options are available.
Not familiar with KACL? You may attend any one class free. One free meeting is offered to anyone who has never attended KACL in the past. Registration is still required; please phone the ETSU at Kingsport Downtown office at (423) 354-5200 to register.
Registration begins September 18, 2024, by returning the enclosed Application for Membership along with a check made payable to KACL and mailed to ETSU at Kingsport, 300 West Market Street, Kingsport, Tennessee, 37660. Membership costs for the Fall 2024 session are $25.00 per person until October 7, 2024. Beginning October 7, 2024, membership costs will be $30.00. This fee covers all classes on this term’s schedule, not per class. Any events requiring additional fees (such as field trips) are clearly marked. Recording of KACL lectures is prohibited.
REFUNDS: No refunds will be made after the first week of the term (Friday, October 18, 2024). Requests for refunds must be made in writing and submitted to KACL. A $7.50 processing fee will be deducted from refunds.
PARKING AND ACCESS: Parking at KCHE is available in several city parking lots located on Market Street or in the Clay Street lot behind the building. To avoid citations, do not park in the congresswoman’s parking lot located on the west side of the building. If you have parking questions, please call ETSU at Kingsport Downtown, (423) 354-5200.
The classroom building may be entered through the Clay Street front or the Market Street side ground-level entrances. Persons with disabilities who require special assistance or seating are requested to call ETSU at Kingsport Downtown at (423) 354-5200 for arrangements.
